On my way back from work I came across a massive christmas tree in The Rocks (Sydney). I had to look twice to realise that it was made out of bicycles. Clever idea of recycling and creating something amazing.
I started thinking about our christmas tree. My parents are going to be with us this year, so we will have a real family christmas. Little M is old enough to realise that something special is going on so we thought having a chritsmas tree would be nice.
There are quiet a few options to choose from. A real tree, a plastic tree, a cardboard tree or we just take the old dry branches I bought two years ago and redecorate them. You might have guessed a plastic tree is definitely not what we are aiming for. All other artificial trees don’t seem appealing or sustainable as well.
So either a real tree or the old branches from two years ago. In terms of a green Christmas recycling the old branches seem to be the better option as we don’t have to buy them, there are already there – hanging around in the corner and getting dusty. Time to get them out, brush the dust off and get them decorated. It might not be the easiest option, but definitley a challenge. So let’s start the games. I hope my mother is coming up with some good ideas for it
